Partner Institutions: IOE, LSHTM
Cluster Leader: Professor Alfredo Saad Filho (SOAS)
Other Cluster members: Dr Elisa Van Waeyenberge and Dr Matteo Rizzi

Competition for studentships for 2016 entry is now closed.

Together, SOAS, IOE and LSHTM have one of the highest concentrations of development specialists in Europe, with 200-300 staff working on projects across Asia and Africa. Much of this research activity is co-ordinated through informal research clusters (such as migration)  and formal centres such as the Centre for Development Policy Research at SOAS and the Development Education Research Centre at IOE.

Research in international development undertaken by staff and students closely corresponds to the ESRC Strategic Challenges, with work in the areas of global economic performance, policy and management, security, conflict and justice, social diversity and population dynamics.
